One of the fun things about being the wife, and a wife who so happens to be an architect, is that I get to make all these outlandish requests and then wait for Trav and my dad to make them work. And you know what, they've always made it happen. So, let me share with you this final feat of electricity, the piece de resistance: a three-way switch. Yes, I can turn on the kitchen light as I walk in from the Garage and then I can turn that same light off when I leave the Kitchen and walk into the Dining Room. Here's a picture of my dad and Trav, showing off the three-way switch. Brilliant!

lights, camera, action!
The learning curve is steep around our house. Trav completed the electrical work in the kitchen! The existing kitchen only had one outlet, so we had to add more. Plus we had to add outlets for the new dishwasher (can't wait!) and new garbage disposal (really can't wait!). Then Trav got fancy and added an exterior outlet and light. One of the lessons we learned is that there are really only four ways you possibly could wire an outlet. Trust us. We tried all four ways. This was prompted after our first attempt at wiring, when I so cleverly remarked that any idiot could re-wire a house. And then Trav turned the breaker on and... not much happened. So, after we blew off some steam and some money we don't have at an overpriced restaurant, we came home and tried a few other ways of wiring those darn outlets. And, boy, when those little green lights came on on the GFI outlets, I think a tear came to Trav's eye. And then everything worked!
