Road trip!
We took our first family vacation this summer and drove up to Portland for a Theobald family reunion. The photo above is our rig, which consisted of my dad's truck pulling my uncle's trailer. It was awesome! I totally recommend towing a trailer behind your car for all new moms; it was so nice having a portable diaper changing/breast feeding station along the way!
Our route went through Shasta, where we made our first stop at Castle Crags. We spent one night at Castle Crags. We got to the park early enough to go on a hike to the vista point (why don't they call it view point? i mean, stick to one language!). at the top of the hike there were stunning views (vistas) of the crags and mount shasta.
Below is trav and lucie standing in front of mount shasta, but the camera couldn't capture the snow capped top. so, take the image above and mentally impose it onto the photo below. got it? amazing background, right?
There are bears up in Shasta, so Lucie had to look fierce in her bear pjs! grrr!
The next day, we crossed the border into Oregon, Lucie's first out of state visit! We camped outside of Bend, at Tumolo State Park on the Deshutes River. We hung out by the river and went swimming a little bit.
There were chipmunks at this campground, so Lucie wore her squirrel/nut pjs!
We finally met up with the family in Portland the next day after a beautiful drive along highway 22. I definitely would go back and stay in one of the towns along that highway. beautiful lakes and forests for miles!
Lucie got to see Grandma and Grandpa and meet the rest of the family. It was a bittersweet reunion since we were there for such a short time. Plus, we detoured to the ER because Lucie had a really weepy eye that needed checking out. Her eye ended up being OK and because of our detour to the ER and then the pharmacy, we got to see a couple really cute neighborhoods of Portland that we would've missed otherwise. Lastly, I got to meet up with my friend Trilby whom I met while in Denmark. She lives in Portland and has the coolest job ever: she's the artist for the Portland Anthropologie. You know how Anthropologie has really cool window and in-store displays? Well, each store has an artist that designs and makes those and Trilby is the artist for Portland. Cool! Trilby got to meet Lucie and we got to eat in this really cool Swedish brunch restaurant in SE Portland called Broder. We got aebleskiver! yum!
On our way back home, we made one last stop right outside Ashland, OR. We camped at Emmigrant Lake, which is a huge resort-y camping spot. By resort, I mean RV resort. It had a big lake for boating and fishing and even had waterslides. We didn't stay long, just long enough for a morning swim in the lake.
Overall, the trip was awesome. The camper worked out really well and was super comfortable. Trav thought it was so comfortable, he had a hard time waking up in the morning. This is how I found Trav after I asked him to watch Lucie after her morning feeding while I went to the bathrooms. Hey, she's not crying, so no harm!

Happy Father's Day!
We had a really low key Father's Day, since we had been super busy the last few weekends. Trav got to spend some time gardening in the backyard. He cleared out the top most section of yard to get it ready for a lawn. yeah, grass! I can't wait to put a slip-n-slide up there!
We gave my dad the day off from helping us around the house/yard! On a side note, I did notice that Trav took a few more breaks than usual today...
Yeah Dads!
