Happy Halloween!

Happy Fall and Happy Halloween! I love this time of year - the crisp air, the smell of fires burning, the anticipation of the holiday season. Needless to say, Autumn is beautiful in Marin. We took our obligatory trip to the pumpkin patch with Lucie. After much deliberating, we chose to go to Nicasio Farms in West Marin. We made Lucie sit in the scratchy hay so we could take her picture. As is her usual disposition, she didn't mind too much. Instead, she because very interested in the hay itself and how to eat a whole fistfull of it.

We bought a couple of pumpkins to take home to carve with the cousins. And when I say a couple of pumpkins, I literally mean two. We tried to buy more, but man, are those organic farms pricey! I've had to put clothes back on the shelf before, but never pumpkins! Next time, we'll being our Trader Joes pumpkins with us to the picturesque patch to take pictures. Lucie won't know the difference, right?

Our Halloween weekend was packed with fun. First, Megan and the girls came over to spend the night a couple days before. We carved pumpkins (OK, Trav and Megan did the actual carving. We still aren't letting May have knives).

Megan is such a good mom that she carved exactly what Mayanna drew on the pumpkin, which was a cat. May didn't want the cat to have ears, so the cat has no ears. If you can't tell, May's pumpkin is the front one in the photo below. Meow!

Grandma and Grandpa met up with us and we went to a Halloween story time at the bookstore. It was kind of lame, but the kids didn't care since they got to dress up in their costumes. Lucie was a ballerina!
On Halloween, we had friends over with their son, Bryce. He was a Lion. He and Lucie were good sports about wearing their costumes. By the end of the weekend, I think Lucie liked the idea! What do you think?

But, all good things come to an end. And all that excitement made for one sleepy ballerina.

Take me out to the ball game! MLB West champs!

So, I bought a Giants onesie for Father's Day last June with the intention that we'd go to a game or two this season. Plus, my parents gave Travis $100 Giants gift certificate last May for his birthday. We had all the reasons to go to a game, but never got around to it until today. The very last game of the season. As it turns out, today happens to be the best day to go to the Giants game because it was the game that determined whether or not they are the MLB West champs. They are. Because we won!!!

It was a fun game because it was packed and all the fans were really riled up (in a good way). We had to buy our tickets outside of the Giants website, so we had to use Travis's gift certificate on food and drinks. Sadly, we did not eat and drink our way through the $100, though at one point I was holding a tray of garlic fries and a beer while eating a licorice rope. We made Lucie eat carrots.

The ballpark gave Lucie a certificate in honor of it being her very first baseball game. Even though there were some tears, I think she had fun. Go Giants!
