Happy 6 months!

Lucie is six months old!! Since she was born on the 31st of March, I'm not sure if I count yesterday, September 30th as her 6 months or today, October 1st as 6 months. At least she wasn't born on February 29th!

We started the day with some play time on the ground. Lucie's favorite activity is sitting up and playing with her toys. A close second is walking (with someone holding her hands) or standing.

Then we went to her well baby appointment. She is now 15 pounds, 14 ounces and 26 inches long! Lucie is right at 50% for height, weight, and head circumference. But off the charts for cuteness! (OK, that was a little too cutesy, sorry.) Best of all, since Lucie is sooo good at sitting up, Dr. Kwok said that it doesn't matter that she doesn't like to roll over. So I no longer have to force Lucie to do "tummy time." Lucie says tummy time is for babies. I'm sure she'll be walking before I know it.

We ended the day at Grandma and Grandpa Klein's house, since Travis was in Texas for business. Lucie played with new toys and watched a little Curious George.

Six months is fun!

LA premiere

Lucie made her LA premiere visit last weekend. True to LA form, she arrived in high style, skirting the paparazzi, and headed right to Grandma Theobald's classroom. Grandma showed her off to her second grade class. As usual, Lucie loved watching the kiddos and the kids, especially the girls, thought Lucie was cute. She is!

Later that night, we relaxed at Grandma and Grandpa's house. Their neighbor, and really great family friend Barbara, finally got to meet Lucie. They hit it off! Lucie especially liked Barbara's necklace, but I heard there's a long line of people eying that necklace!

Lucie got to wear all her summer clothes one last time before winter, since it was 100+ degrees in LA! Luckily, everywhere in LA has AC, so we stayed cool.

Karen and Bob threw a magnificent BBQ in Lucie's honor that Saturday. Lucie got to meet all the family and friends from LA.

Lucie got to spend lots of time with Grandma.

And Dad sneaked her some beer. (Doesn't every parent have the "baby drinking out of the beer bottle" picture? Well, here's ours.)

When everyone first got to the BBQ, Luciewas a little wary and cried some big tears. But, after she warmed up, Lucie was very polite and smile at everyone.

She especially smiled with Great Grandma. They had a good time making silly noises. Great Grandmas are so much fun!

Lucie got to meet Erin, Travis's friend from way back when.

And, the most important guest (at least to Lucie) was Tahoe. Lucie really wanted to pet Tahoe, but Tahoe wasn't so sure. Lucie did get a few puppy kisses (which I quickly washed off! first child syndrome.)
And Lucie got to hang out with Uncle Tyler and Aunt Michelle, who hadn't seen her since she was 3 months old. For some reason, I don't have any pictures of them. I'll find some and post them ASAP. But here's a pict of the fam:

Later that weekend, we met up with Travis's junior high friends, Trisha and Erin. We went out to lunch at Blue Plate in Santa Monica. It's on Montana St, which is a really cute (read: yuppy) street sort of near the beach and sort of near 3rd St. Of course, I found a cute baby boutique but did NOT buy anything. At lunch, Lucie got to sit in a high chair, which happened to be a Handy Seat, the booster seat we have at home. It's all wood and clips onto a chair and is really cool looking and works great.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for an awesome LA weekend!

ahoy matey!

My parents took the three of us out to the Maritime Museum in SF for a wine tasting event. Lisa, my sister's friend, and her husband Ted started a winery, Prime Cellars and were pouring their wine at the event with about 5 other wineries. The wine was superb, the Paella awesome, and the scene breathtaking! Plus, we all happened to wear stripes, even Lucie. So nautical!

sitting pretty

Lucie's new "trick" is sitting up all by herself. Just this last week, she became strong enough to sit by herself. And it's opened up a whole new world for her. Since she's sat up, she enjoys playing with her toys so much more. We just plop her on the rug or play mat and surround her with toys and she's amused for minutes (ok, we're working on attention span length...she's young still!). the best is riding around in the bugaboo. before, when we were out and about and Lucie was awake, I'd lug her around in the bjorn while pushing the bugaboo at the same time. Then, while they were babysitting, my parents had the brilliant idea to sit Lucie up in the bugaboo bassinet. She loves it. It's like a travelling play pen. We just put some padding behind her and throw in a few toys and she's perfectly content to ride around like a princess. Plus, this means no more car seat in the shopping cart. Big steps have been made! Sitting up is the best thing that's happened to all of us!
